Thank you for your interest in applying for the Prism Comics Queer Press Grant!
Submission for the 2018 Queer Press Grant is now open, and we will be accepting applications until February 28th, 2018 (until midnight, PST).

Please make sure to prepare PDFs for the following in advance: Cover Letter (Statement of Purpose), Résumé and Business Plan. And please also make sure to fill out all required fields before submitting. Thanks, and good luck!

Please fill out ALL the info in this section, even if you have already registered a profile/account with Prism Comics.
  • Accepted file types: jpg, gif, png, pdf, jpeg.
Please upload a photo you would like us to use to visually represent you in case you are chosen for the grant.

Please attach ALL the required documents. If more than one of you is applying for the grant together for a project, please supply résumés for ALL individuals applying (combine in one file). Please also combine salaries/financial info when asked for them, and make note in the comments at the end. Please make sure no file attachment is larger than 1GB in size (if it is, please reduce the number of pages until it’s below this limit). Here’s a brief description of each document you’ll need to submit.

COVER LETTER (STATEMENT OF PURPOSE) — Briefly state the project title and why the project is of interest to the readers of LGBTQ comics. In addition, this statement is an opportunity to go into more depth regarding what your work offers, how it is new or different, and why the grant can help make the project better or possible. Do NOT include any contact info here, as we will already have it from the form. RESUMÉ — Please attach your most recent résumé/CV. BUSINESS PLAN — Please summarize your knowledge of the basic nuts and bolts of comic book self publishing including printing, distribution and marketing. List the costs of each aspect of your project, and what it would take to see it completed. URL LINK TO CREATIVE WORK — Please supply a private URL link (via Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar) that shows as much of the completed work on your project to date as possible. This should not be a short excerpt. Include penciled or unfinished pages if necessary. If this link requires a password in order to view, please supply it in the comments at the end.

Please make sure ALL of the files that you attach to the grant application are in a PDF format. You can only upload 1 attachment per item, so if a particular item has multiple pages (for example, more than one résumé), please merge them together into a single, multi-page PDF file before uploading to that section. Large files (under 1GB) are fine — just keep in mind the application may take a while to “send” when submitting.

  • WOAH THERE — STOP!!! PLEASE go back and make sure that you filled out ALL of the required fields, and attached ALL of the required documents, before clicking on the “submit application” button below! This is very important, because if you missed anything required, you may need to go back and redo this application ALL over again — which would give us all sad faces. So make sure you attach at least one document to every place it asks for one, and that you fill out every field that has an asterisk. Good luck!!! NOTE: Once you click “submit,” it may take a long time for the form to process. This is normal. Please wait patiently until you receive a “success” message. Do not leave this page, go back, or do anything while the form is processing. Thank you!!
